Hulu greenlit an untitled series following the former Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and her family. Her husband, Conner, is one of eight executive producers, and the Mormon Wives production company is back, too.
Whitney Leavitt quit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives from a Broadway stage in May. Six months later, she has her own Hulu show.
Hulu greenlit an untitled reality series about Leavitt and her family, Deadline reported Wednesday, Nov. 4. It will follow her "newfound fame and career ambitions while always putting family first."
Deadline's description calls her "firebrand Whitney Leavitt." Mormon Wives viewers might have a few other words for her, but firebrand works.
There's no title or premiere date yet. Leavitt teased the news Wednesday with an Instagram Reel made with Hulu and its @GetRealHulu account, captioned "see you soon," ABC Audio reported.
The show stays in the family in a very literal way. Leavitt stars and produces, and her husband, Conner Leavitt, is an executive producer through the couple's company, Leavitt Media House.
Who is producing Whitney Leavitt's Hulu show?
Mostly the people who made her famous, plus her own household. Three companies are behind it:
Jeff Jenkins Productions, which produces The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
3BMG
Leavitt Media House, Whitney and Conner Leavitt's production company
The executive producers are Whitney Leavitt, Conner Leavitt, Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Amanda Weinstein, Brandon Beck, Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans.
That's eight executive producers for one family's reality show. Thanksgiving dinner is going to come with a lot of notes.
Why did Whitney Leavitt leave Mormon Wives?
She announced it in May, during her final performance as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway. She appears in Season 5 but won't be in future seasons, Deadline reported. Hulu has renewed the show for 20 more episodes without her.
On Good Morning America in September, Leavitt said she had tried to leave several times. "It just felt like it was a chapter that was time to end," she said.
She'd been with the show since it premiered on Hulu in September 2024, Laughing Place noted. Her villainous on-screen persona made her one of its breakout stars.
What else is Whitney Leavitt doing?
Pretty much everything. Here's her calendar:
Dancing with the Stars: She finished sixth on Season 34 in 2025, partnered with Mark Ballas.
Chicago: Her Roxie Hart run helped the musical gross $1,457,930.77 in a single week in March, the highest in its nearly 30-year history, Playbill reported.
All for Love: Her first movie, a holiday rom-com with Jesse Kove that she also executive produced. ABC Audio reported it arrives on Netflix Nov. 24.
Just in Time: She plays Sandra Dee in the Broadway musical at Circle in the Square from Dec. 1 to Jan. 10, TheaterMania reported.
So she's starring in a Netflix movie the week of Thanksgiving, then a Broadway show a week later, while Hulu cameras get ready to follow her. The "always putting family first" part is going to need a whiteboard.
Do Mormon Wives fans want a Whitney Leavitt show?
Not all of them. Some commenters on Deadline and Reddit predicted one season and done, InTouch Weekly reported. One called the idea "soooo boring."
Others said they liked her but weren't sure there was enough story for a full series. A few were just happy for her.
Love her or not, Hulu is betting people will watch. In reality TV, the villain usually gets the ratings, and sometimes the spinoff.
What other Mormon Wives shows are on Hulu?
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County premieres Nov. 12 on Hulu. The cast includes Jen Affleck, McCall DaPron, Bobbi Althoff, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salome Andrea, Ashleigh Pease and Madison Bontempo.
Add Leavitt's show, and the MomTok universe is now three Hulu series deep. Disney has its Marvel and Star Wars franchises. Hulu, apparently, has this one.
