The new “Sour Patch Kids Wicked Punch” flavor is a sour-then-sweet redberry glaze topped with Sour Patch Kids Bitz. Club Wingstop members get it Oct. 23, and everyone else gets it Oct. 27 through Nov. 5.
Wingstop is putting candy on chicken wings.
The chain teamed up with Sour Patch Kids for a Halloween flavor called Sour Patch Kids Wicked Punch, the companies announced Oct. 13. It’s a “sour then sweet redberry glaze” finished with Sour Patch Kids Bitz, according to Wingstop.
Even Wingstop knows how that sounds. “Candy on wings? We know exactly what you’re thinking,” CEO Michael Skipworth said in the announcement.
When can you get Sour Patch Kids wings at Wingstop?
There are two dates:
Oct. 23: Club Wingstop members get early access.
Oct. 27: The flavor rolls out nationwide, through Nov. 5.
That’s 10 days for everyone and 14 for Club Wingstop members, by our math. Wingstop says it’s available “for a limited time only” at participating U.S. locations, “while supplies last.”
You can order it through the Wingstop app or Wingstop.com, according to the company. Wingstop’s own suggestions: take it to a costume party, a scary-movie marathon or the couch after trick-or-treating.
What does Wicked Punch taste like?
Sour first, then sweet, according to Wingstop’s description. The company says its in-house “Flavor Experts” came up with it. The glaze is Redberry-flavored, and the Sour Patch Kids Bitz go on top.
Wingstop says it’s “available across all proteins.” Wingstop’s menu includes classic wings, boneless wings, tenders and chicken sandwiches.
Skipworth’s pitch: “it has no business being this good.”
How much do the Sour Patch Kids wings cost?
Neither company has announced a price, and Wingstop’s prices vary by location. Check the app before you go.
What else is Sour Patch Kids doing for Halloween?
The wings kick off a bigger stunt. Sour Patch Kids is running “13 Days of Mischief” on Instagram and TikTok from Oct. 19 to Halloween, according to Mondelez, the company that owns the brand.
“This is the first taste of the SOUR PATCH KIDS 13 Days of Mischief program,” said Lauryn McDonough, Mondelez’s senior director of candy.
Sour Patch also has new Halloween candy, with these suggested prices:
Monster Parts: Black Raspberry, Orange and Watermelon, $4.29 for an 8.88-ounce bag
Tricksters: each piece may taste like a different flavor than it looks, $1.50 for a 3.52-ounce box
Glow Ups Ghosts: Orange and Peach, with candy confetti that glows under a blacklight, $4.29 for 8.37 ounces
What other fast food is going candy-crazy for Halloween?
Wingstop isn’t the only chain raiding the candy aisle this October:
Krispy Kreme has a Looney Tunes Halloween collection, including a Taz doughnut with Oreo filling. Guests in costume get a free doughnut Oct. 30 and 31, Food Network reported.
Dairy Queen has a Spellbound Series with an Enchanted Oreo Blizzard through Nov. 1, Food Republic reported.
Burger King has a Vampire’s Bite Strawberry & Sprite drink with a Sour Punch candy straw, as we reported Oct. 7.
For trick-or-treaters, Sour Patch Kids sells bags holding 22 to 250 treat-size packs, starting at $4.29, according to Mondelez.
Has Sour Patch Kids teamed up with other brands?
A few times. Oreo and Sour Patch Kids made a limited cookie together in May 2024, according to Mondelez.
In March 2026, Utah soda chain Swig added Sour Patch Kids dirty sodas at more than 140 locations. One of them was a Redberry flavor, the same flavor name as Wingstop’s new glaze.
What other limited flavors has Wingstop done lately?
Wingstop has been busy:
September 2026: a Lemon Pepper Trio for football season, with two new spicy versions of its lemon pepper, as we reported Sept. 19. Club Wingstop got those early, too.
January 2026: a Lemon Pepper Schmear with PopUp Bagels.
Wingstop normally has 12 flavors, according to the company.
How big is Wingstop?
Bigger than you might think. Wingstop had 3,255 restaurants worldwide as of June 27, including 2,728 in the U.S., according to its latest earnings report.
It started in 1994 in Garland, Texas, and it’s based in Dallas. Nearly all of its locations are owned by franchisees. The chain did more than $5 billion in systemwide sales in 2025, and it’s the NBA’s official chicken partner, according to Wingstop.
How did Sour Patch Kids get its name?
It started in Canada in the late 1970s under a different name: Mars Men, according to Mental Floss.
When the candy came to the U.S. in 1985, it was renamed to ride the popularity of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. The sour little guys have outlasted the doll craze by a few decades.
What are some fun facts about Wingstop?
It has worked with Marvel. Wingstop ran a “Secret Menu” promotion tied to Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion in 2023, and the video is still on Wingstop’s YouTube channel.
Club Wingstop keeps getting first dibs. Both the Lemon Pepper Trio and Wicked Punch went to members a few days before everyone else.
It’s a Halloween-only flavor. Wicked Punch disappears after Nov. 5, so if you want candy on your wings, you’ve got about a week and a half once it goes nationwide.
Wingstop’s own CEO says it shouldn’t work. The internet will decide by Nov. 5.
