Lenore Zann and A.J. LoCascio will read Rogue's and Gambit's chapters in the audiobook of Marvel's Rogue x Gambit novel, out Feb. 9, 2027. It's not Season 3, and the publisher calls the book "steamy."
Rogue and Gambit's X-Men '97 voices are teaming up again. Not for Season 3, though. For a romance novel.
Lenore Zann (Rogue) and A.J. LoCascio (Gambit) will narrate the audiobook of Rogue x Gambit (An X-Men Love Story), Collider revealed Friday, Nov. 6. Random House Audio releases it Feb. 9, 2027.
Each actor reads their own character's point-of-view chapters. So Zann handles Rogue's side of the story, and LoCascio brings the Cajun charm for Remy's.
It's the first time the two have performed the characters together in an audiobook, SuperHeroHype reported.
Louangie Bou-Montes and Aabria Iyengar wrote the novel "in collaboration with Marvel," Collider reported. Random House Worlds publishes the print edition, and Marvel shares the author credit on the publisher's listing.
Here's the official X-Men '97 Season 2 trailer from Marvel:
What is Rogue x Gambit about?
Remy heads home to New Orleans, and Rogue goes with him. The city is still recovering from a devastating hurricane, and someone is buying it up piece by piece. Vampires are involved, along with corporate greed and an ancient evil, Collider reported.
The romance is the center of the book. Rogue can't touch anyone without stealing their memories, powers or life. Remy, a thief turned hero, worries he's changed too much to go home.
Collider said the emotional core is Rogue's fear of hurting the people she loves and Gambit's faith in her anyway. The publisher's tagline: "She can't touch him. He can't stay away."
It's an original story, not an adaptation of a comic, and it sits outside the comics' continuity, Collider reported when Marvel announced the book in June.
The cover leans all the way in: Rogue in a green gown and Gambit in his trench coat, framed by a giant gold X.
Is Rogue x Gambit OK for kids?
Probably not for the kid in your house who just discovered X-Men '97 and wants a bedtime story. Random House Worlds bills it as a "steamy, moody romance." The listing doesn't give an age rating, so parents may want to preview it first.
How much is Rogue x Gambit, and when does it come out?
Everything lands Feb. 9, 2027, and preorders are open now, according to Penguin Random House:
Hardcover: $30, 368 pages
Ebook: same date; price not listed yet
Audiobook: about 11 hours, read by Zann and LoCascio
The release date is a few days before Valentine's Day, and that's on purpose, Bleeding Cool noted.
Who are Lenore Zann and A.J. LoCascio?
Zann has voiced Rogue since X-Men: The Animated Series in the 1990s, and she came back for X-Men '97 on Disney+. LoCascio took over as Gambit for the 2024 revival. Both also voiced their characters in the video game Marvel Rivals, SuperHeroHype noted.
Here's hoping a good chunk of those 11 hours is LoCascio saying "chere."
Who wrote Rogue x Gambit?
Louangie Bou-Montes wrote the novel Take It to Your Grave, and Aabria Iyengar created the comic series The Fade, Bleeding Cool reported. Marvel worked with both on the story.
When is X-Men '97 Season 3?
Sometime in 2027. Marvel Studios' Brad Winderbaum told Collider that Season 3 is coming in 2027 and Season 4 in 2028, GamesRadar reported. There's no exact date yet.
Season 2 wrapped up on Disney+ with its Aug. 12 finale. Zann and LoCascio are both expected back for Season 3.
Seasons 1 and 2 of X-Men '97 are streaming on Disney+ now if you need a refresher before February.
